Freed from the land that bounds it, the River Dove and the streams that feed it have a life of their own. My Streamscapes reveal the beauty and diversity of water in motion, and its ever changing interaction with light, land and season. They may even help you rediscover an area that you believe you know well.

These time exposures – extended and frozen fractions of seconds – are created in camera with minimal post processing but are often mistaken for paintings. Individually and collectively they show the influence of geology, the passing of the seasons, the character of the day, the legacy of rain and the energy of the water. Form, features, colour and texture are all a part of the images, but they are first and foremost about the light on the water, the way that this combines with its movement, and the emotions that this invokes.

Water is intrinsically linked to the history and development of our villages, towns and cities and its importance continues today. Yet all too often it only grabs our attention when we have too much, or too little. I hope that my images will remind you that water is something of beauty, to be celebrated and valued.
