New Work Finds Favour

A perfectly beautiful summer’s evening in Buxton yesterday. A bite to eat, something to drink, and then onto the preview for the Derbyshire Open Art Competition at Buxton Museum & Gallery. On the back of my latest photomontage, I’ve been making a series of affectionate portraits of Buxton’s iconic buildings, and was delighted to have ‘Of Domes and Deer’, a montage of the outlook from The Slopes towards The Crescent and a skyline punctuated by the Devonshire Dome and its towers, accepted for exhibition and Commended by the judges. So here’s a rare picture of me not hiding behind a camera to mark my finally finding something I can enter into a competition I've long admired.

I’ll be bringing more prints from my ‘Postcards from Buxton ’ series to the Peak District Artisans’ Great Dome Art & Design Fair on 19-21 July featuring Buxton Opera House, the Pavilion Gardens' Octagon Hall and Conservatory, and of course The Devonshire Dome.
