A New Year's Exhibition

Article text
As I sit and type this, members of Peak District Artisans are putting the finishing touches to their latest exhibition at Chatsworth House. The exhibition opens tomorrow, Friday 12 January and runs through to Friday 9 March 2018. This year we are again in the Burlington Room at the Stables and will be open from 10.30 to 3.30pm; each day a different artist will be in attendance. I will be on duty on Wednesday 31 January, Thursday 8 February and Tuesday 6 March.

For the first time this year 2D artists are able to offer a selection of cards for sale, as well as framed work and mounted prints. Together with ceramics, woodturning, jewellery and other crafts there should be something to suit all tastes, and all pockets.

The sharp eyed among you may have spotted that our advert in the December 2017 / January 2018 issue of Artsbeat magazine includes a voucher for free parking at The Stables during our exhibition (but do please note that the voucher isn’t valid for the half-term week 17-25 February). Our members also have a limited number of flyers with the same voucher, so do get in touch if you would like one. Otherwise Chatsworth’s normal car parking charge applies, though entry to the exhibition itself is free.

I have just had a new portfolio book printed which I will bring along on my ‘duty days’, and to my other events this year. Titled ‘May I Dream of Trees’, it gives me the opportunity to draw together some of the images that I have made of trees over the past few years. They reflect the curiosity and exploration that moving water has inspired in my practice; all have been made in camera whether woodland or water is their origin. I have collected the images here although they are best appreciated in print.

I’m currently firming up plans for events and exhibitions this year, and hope to have some exciting news to share soon so keep an eye on the Events page.
