Last weekend saw perhaps the first proper cold snap of the winter after an unseasonably mild and frequently blustery December. I was fortunate to be able to get out with camera four times in six days, and certainly got my creative 'hit'.
The cold front passing southwards on Thursday 12 January promised a good mix of sun and high cloud, so I made the return I had promised myself to the east side of Chrome Hill. Given clear air, the light is fantastic throughout the day, and accentuates the outcropping limestone against the darker gritstone hills and edges beyond.
Friday through Tuesday provided some of those 'good to be alive' mornings and it was well worth vacating a warm bed to set off through the dark to watch the sun rise over fields of frost and mist before leaving the hills to the weekend walkers.
